1. Who we are

Opal Tutors ("we", "us") operates an online marketplace connecting students and parents ("students") with independent tutors ("tutors") in the UK. We are not a party to, and do not supervise, any tutoring arrangement made between a student and a tutor.

2. Using the platform

You must be 18 or over to create an account, or have a parent/guardian create one on your behalf. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure.

3. Contact details and the finder’s fee

Direct contact details (email, phone number, and other off-platform contact information) are withheld in chat until the applicable finder’s fee has been paid. Attempting to circumvent this — for example by sharing contact details through other means — is a breach of these terms and may result in account suspension.

4. Payments

Finder’s fees and tutor subscriptions are processed by a third-party payment provider. Fees are non-refundable once a conversation has been unlocked, except where required by law.

5. Reviews

Reviews must reflect genuine experiences with a tutor. We may remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise violate these terms.

6. Tutor conduct

Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of Opal Tutors. Tutors are responsible for their own qualifications, safeguarding compliance, tax affairs, and the quality of tuition provided.

7. Prohibited use

You may not use the platform for any unlawful purpose, to harass another user, or to advertise services unrelated to tutoring.

8. Liability

We provide the platform "as is" and make no guarantee about the outcome of any tutoring arrangement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the acts or omissions of any student or tutor.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
