How Opal works
Finding a GCSE or A-Level tutor takes four steps, and the first two are free.
Search
Look for tutors by subject, level and postcode or town, or pick online lessons. Every profile shows the hourly rate, what they teach, reviews from students and any checks we’ve made.
Message for free
Ask about availability, exam boards or a trial lesson in the chat. Messaging costs nothing and you can talk to as many tutors as you like. Phone numbers and emails are hidden in chat until the next step.
Unlock contact details
When you’ve found the right tutor, pay a one-off fee for that tutor and we’ll share their contact details with you.
Book lessons directly
Arrange times and pay the tutor directly at their own rate. Opal never takes a cut of lessons.
For tutors
A profile is free and students can message you as soon as it’s live. You keep everything you charge for lessons. Tutors will also be able to pay for a featured spot, which is always labelled “Sponsored”.
